We present to you "Queer Art in Self-Isolation - Breaking the Silence" - a publication created as part of the campaign to commemorate this year's International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT), which provides a safe space and a voice to the LGBTI+ community.
IDAHOBIT is commemorated to draw attention to the violence and discrimination experienced on an everyday basis by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex persons and all other people with diverse sexual orientations, gender identities or expressions, and sex characteristics.
The publication is a collection of artworks created by LGBTI+ persons during the period of self-isolation mandated by the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. Queer art in self-isolation is an idea which arose spontaneously from the need to provide the LGBTI+ community with a safe space and platform in which they could express themselves and break the silence freely. No matter if it was done through photographs, songs, stories or drawings, queer people have provided us with works that reflect their pride, hope, love, and even their own fears and sadness.
